Mission Statement

Friends of Coos County Animals (FOCCAS), Inc., established in March 2006, was organized exclusively for charitable purposes, and especially, to support and enhance services for the Coos County Animal Shelter including organizations and causes that promote animal welfare.

We are happy to say that with the help of our dedicated volunteers FOCCAS has found loving homes for hundreds of animals, many of which may not have been discovered at the Shelter itself, as many folks feel uncomfortable visiting there. Most every weekend, we display our current selection of dogs and cats at our Adoption Booth located at Pony Village Shopping Center in North Bend, Oregon.

FOCCAS adoption fees help pay for vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, dental cleaning, licensing, flea control, 24 Pet Watch Brand Microchips in both cats and dogs and other health needs as new animals come into our program. Reducing euthanasia and the homeless rate in this County by promoting spay and neuter is as important as finding loving homes, therefore all our Pets are altered before we offer them for adoption.

Also, when funding allows, we try to provide spay/neuter vouchers to families in financial need helping to prevent more unwanted kittens and puppies from being born and ending up on the streets or in the Shelter.

Your generous donations, provide our Shelter animals with vaccinations, worming, flea control, special needs foods such as KMR and Esbilac, as well as spay/neuter vouchers. As the County does not have a budget for these very important medical needs, our volunteers actively seek donations positively resulting in disease control and providing healthy pets for adoption.

We enthusiastically encourage you to become involved in any way to support our cause. Just talking to others about our program, visiting the Shelter and volunteering your time to exercise the pets or clean kennels, become a Foster Parent by temporarily taking in animals to your home or dedicating your time during our special fund raising events, would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
